Original patents and grants, A-Z, from the Virginia Land Office record group, 1728-1933.

These records contain original land grants on parchment which were never delivered to the grantees or were returned to the Land Office as exhibits in land disputes. On the reverse of each is a notation signed by the register of the Land Office that the individual named in the grant held title to the land described. Most grants appear to have been exposed to fire and water damage and approximately thirty grants in one box are illegible as a result of such damage. The series includes typed duplicates of thirty-seven grants issued in 1907 and from 1926 through 1933. Dates of the records are 1728; 1741; 1745; 1755; 1762; 1771-1772; 1780-1781; 1783; 1786-1831; 1833; 1835-1836; 1838-1843; 1845-1849; 1851-1852; 1854-1858; 1860-1861; 1875; 1880; 1882; 1883-1887; 1889; 1891; 1907; 1926-1933.
